Meet Lucie Phillips, Sedna's New COO
We're excited to share that Lucie Phillips has joined Sedna as our new Chief Operating Officer.
Lucie brings over a decade of experience scaling startups, most recently spending five years in freight forwarding, where she navigated some of the supply chain industry's most turbulent moments firsthand. This experience gave Lucie a deep understanding of how supply chain disruption ripples across the world economy - and just how much smart automation and consistent data can do for an industry moving so much of the world's goods.
Why Sedna?
"When you meet a founder who's so passionate about what they've built and are building, it's very hard not to want to be involved," Lucie says, reflecting on her first conversation with CEO & founder Bill Dobie. Having built her career around founders, she was drawn to a rare combination: a problem she understood deeply from her own time in the industry, paired with a founder whose product instincts complemented her own strengths in structure and execution.
"He's a real visionary - strategic, product-obsessed, incredibly attuned to what a customer needs," she says. "I'm really good at putting structure around that. Between us, we had the right ingredients."
A Bigger Opportunity Than Expected
Since joining, Lucie says she's been struck by the scale of the opportunity in front of Sedna. Coming from a single vertical in freight forwarding, stepping into the wider shipping industry has been eye-opening - especially seeing how much a small, sharp team has already built. "Imagine what we could do with an operating model that scales with the ambition of the business," she says. She's also found Sedna's progress with AI further along than she expected before joining, with more updates on that front coming soon.
What She's Focused On
As COO, Lucie is focused on building an operating model that scales with both Sedna and its customers - one where every customer, whether they've worked with Sedna for twenty minutes or five years, gets the same consistency of service and a clear sense of the value Sedna delivers.
She's also excited about embedding AI more deeply into how the team works day to day, from go-to-market workflows to customer communication. "The opportunity to really question every role and every process, and ask how we can do this smarter, faster, better - that's what excites me," she says. Even though much of her role will be behind the scenes, she's clear that everything she does is ultimately in service of the customer, turning feedback into how the wider team prioritises its work.
Fun Fact
Lucie is a keen hiker and can frequently be found climbing mountains. Her favourite climb to date is Schiehallion, a Munro in the Scottish Highlands.
