Sedna Acquires CompassAir to Advance Global Maritime Innovation

May 22nd, 2025 – London, UK - Sedna, the leading intelligent communication platform for complex logistics and supply chain operations, today announced its acquisition of CompassAir, an Athens-based provider of maritime workflow solutions. With CompassAir’s strong foothold in the Greek and Norwegian shipping sector - two of the most influential regions in global maritime - Sedna strengthens its international reach and deepens its engagement with industry-leading shipowners and operators.

This strategic move represents a significant step forward in Sedna’s ambition to build the Operating System for Global Trade - a fully connected platform that unites people, systems, and data across the maritime ecosystem. As maritime organisations face increasing pressure to digitise while maintaining operational precision, Sedna is scaling ahead of the curve.

“This acquisition is a powerful extension of our mission to unify global trade through intelligent communication,” said Bill Dobie, Founder and CEO of Sedna. “CompassAir brings not only proven technology and deep expertise, but also an exceptional team whose values and vision align closely with ours. Together, we will accelerate innovation and raise the standard for digitalisation across the industry.”

To ensure continuity and deepen alignment, Yannis Manolessos, CEO of CompassAir, will assume a senior leadership role within Sedna.

“Joining forces with Sedna marks a pivotal moment for CompassAir and the customers we serve,” said Yannis Manolessos, CEO of CompassAir. “We’ve always believed in the power of smart tools built for the realities of maritime trade. Now, as part of Sedna, we can scale that impact globally - combining our deep knowledge of SnP and chartering workflows with Sedna’s intelligent communications to deliver unmatched value to commercial shipping teams.”

The industry is  appreciating the key role of the Sale & Purchase (SnP) market, driven by an expanding global fleet, fluctuating asset values, and the race to secure tonnage that aligns with evolving emissions standards. With more deals being scrutinised under ESG lenses, having robust systems in place to scan the market, manage SnP transactions and chartering workflows is no longer a nice-to-have - it's a competitive imperative, both for principals and brokers.

CompassAir brings critical functionality and deep domain expertise across the Research, Negotiation, and Handover stages of the maritime trade lifecycle - all essential points where key decisions are made and value is created. Its advanced Sale & Purchase (SnP) and Chartering products will now be integrated into Sedna’s offering, enabling commercial teams to spot opportunities, close deals faster, reduce risk, and gain full visibility across negotiations. With this acquisition, Sedna becomes the only platform that unites real-time communications, SnP and chartering workflows, and fixture execution in one secure, intelligent workspace.

This integration bolsters Sedna’s leadership in digitalising core maritime operations while furthering its commitment to building tools purpose-built for the unique demands of shipping professionals.

A Strategic Foothold in a Global Maritime Powerhouse

Greece remains one of the most critical hubs in global shipping. With CompassAir’s deep roots in the region, Sedna significantly enhances its local presence, enabling closer collaboration with key players in the industry and a sharper understanding of regional needs. This proximity ensures that customers benefit from trusted relationships, real-time support, and solutions that reflect on-the-ground realities. Together, Sedna and CompassAir will enable shipping professionals to negotiate faster, hand over seamlessly, and operate with total visibility - across teams, time zones, and trades.
